Upper Ruidoso

Dowlin's Mill and the valleys feeding to the Ruidoso above Glencoe, what is today the town of Ruidoso.

There was no appreciable development in this area until the early 1900s; Dowlins Mill was the center of things for the early years. At this point the freight road came up from Tularosa and split; going either north toward Ft. Stanton and Lincoln or going east down to San Patricio and then down the Hondo.
